Efficient and accurate location of pipelines

PIPELINE LOCATION

Locating pipelines is often necessary when plans are inaccurate or missing altogether. With special pipe locating methods, it is possible to reliably locate both metallic and non-metallic pipes.

An electrical signal is applied to the steel cable inserted for locating. This method is suitable for line lengths of up to 2,000 linear metres. Longer sections are divided into subsections. The pipeline is located approx. every 10 metres for position and depth, the data is recorded and can be transferred to the planning by the surveyor’s office.

For electromagnetic locating of plastic pipelines, a parachute is inserted under pressure via a tapping clamp into the pipeline to be located.

With the help of the flow movement, the parachute unfolds and pulls a locating steel cable after it through a special device.

After reaching the desired flushing length, the parachute is folded down and can be completely removed in normal operation after the location measurement (position and depth) has been completed.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE LOCATOR

Line locating can be carried out with all commercially available locating devices,
which have a 33 kHz receiver.
