This is the WCS® Throttle Valve

The WCS® Throttle Valve is an automated system for flow control in stormwater and combined sewer networks as well as wastewater installations.
The electromagnetic flow meter (IDM) continuously measures the actual flow rate. The SIMATIC controller compares the measured value with the defined setpoint and adjusts the pneumatically actuated throttling element (slide gate) accordingly. This keeps the discharge flow as constant as possible at the specified value, even under changing inflow conditions.

The wastewater flows through a pipeline incorporating the IDM, a water meter and the pneumatic throttling element. The controller automatically adjusts the available pipe cross-section according to the defined flow limits.
